Kai Uwe Becker is German patent attorney and qualified as representative before the European Patent Office (EPO), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the Unified Patent Court (UPC).

As scholarship holder of the “Dr. Hans-Werner Hector Namenstipendiums”, Kai participated between 2009 and 2012 in the English-taught bachelor program of mechanical engineering at the Carl-Benz-School of Mechanical Engineering of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and was honoured for his expertise with the Grashof-Award of the KIT.

After finishing the consecutive master program with specialisation in the fields of continuum mechanics and dynamic machine modelling, Kai started as research assistant at the institute of engineering mechanics of the KIT in 2014. His research field was directed to fluid-based bearing concepts for high-speed rotors, especially regarding non-linear oscillations phenomena.

During that time, he elaborated his doctoral thesis with the title “Dynamic behaviour of hydrodynamically beared rotors under consideration of varying bearing geometries”, which is correlated to the fields of fluid-solid-interaction and non-linear oscillation theory. With submission of his thesis in 2019, Kai successfully acquired his doctorial degree.
