Tobias Erny is German patent attorney and qualified as representative before the European Patent Office (EPO) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). He is one of the founding partners of MERH-IP.
His practice focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of information technology, microelectronics, semiconductors, mechanical engineering, material sciences, nanotechnology, metallurgy and process engineering.
He is specialising in opposition proceedings and is experienced in representing clients in patent dispute matters. Trademarks and concepts for valuation of patents is another pillar of Tobias’ work.
Prior to starting his education patent attorney education, he worked four years as a senior R&D engineer with the Corporate Technology of Siemens AG and in a production plant of Siemens Matsushita OHG where he was active in development and production of passive and active electronic components, sensors, actuators, machine components and medical systems.
Tobias graduated in crystallography at Hamburg-University. He worked as scientific research associate in the fields of mechanical engineering and material sciences at Hamburg-Harburg Technical University and the Technical Faculty of Nuremberg-Erlangen University where he was awarded a doctorate in engineering.
