Chien-Yu is working at MERH-IP as a candidate for qualifying as German and European patent attorney.
Her activities mainly include drafting and prosecution of European and international patent applications in the fields of electrical engineering and optics, especially in the fields of telecommunications including wireless/mobile and optical communications, and information technology.
She studied electrical engineering, specialized in telecommunication engineering (Bachelor of Science) and electro-optical engineering (Master of Science) at National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan. She further received her second master degree in Advanced Optical Technologies from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, where she also completed her PhD study in the field of optical communication with the research focus on optical data transmission, digital signal processing (DSP), linear and nonlinear equalization, optical devices and nonlinear fiber optics. During her PhD study she also cooperated with research groups of Nokia Siemens Networks GmbH & Co. KG, Munich, where she developed DSP algorithms suitable for nonlinear equalization of optical signals in long-haul data transmission.
In addition to her mother tongue Mandarin Chinese, she speaks English and fluent German.
